Denise Bates

Deni has created an impressive body of work designing hundreds of gardens throughout Northern California that reflect the unique character of each site or place. Her designs pay careful attention to form and to detail with a keen appreciation of the relationship between her clients and their gardens.

Her love of the California landscape, extensive knowledge of plants and a dedication to creative collaboration, has produced a list of award winning and published works. Deni appreciates all aspects of design and project management from its conception, to the production of construction documents, to overseeing the construction process, followed by long-term maintenance.

Deni’s educational background includes degrees in both Art History and Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley. As a California licensed member of ASLA since 1995, she continues to lecture, jury and mentor students. She worked for several San Francisco based Landscape Architecture firms before heading up her own firm over 20 years ago.
